Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem-solving using typography, photography, sketches and
illustration while Desktop publishing (DTP) is the creation of documents/ compositions using page layout skills on a
personal ("desktop") computer. Graphic Design and DTP are used to create visual representations of ideas or messages.
Common uses of graphic design and DTP include corporate design (logos and branding), editorial design
(magazines, newspapers and books), wayfinding design, textile design, UI design, advertising, web design, communication
design, product packaging and signage. They are also used in the entertainment industry book covers, music album covers,
comic books, DVD covers, opening credits and closing credits in filmmaking.

Graphic designers are expected to have proficiency in digital image editing tools and software programs for typography and
